The challenge
Solar street lighting is not connected to the grid. All the energy comes from the panel during the day, is stored in a battery and used for lighting at night. If the controller doesn't manage the energy correctly, the pole goes dark in the middle of the night, or the battery wears out within a year.
What we built
- Charging: battery charge management from the solar panel, including protection.
- Lighting: an LED driver with dimming by time of night and battery state.
- BLE: a technician connects from a phone to set schedules, read battery status and diagnose faults.
- Low consumption: the controller itself uses very little energy, so that all the energy goes to lighting.
The result
A fully autonomous light pole, managed and programmed from a phone without opening the enclosure.
